For the first time since Wrestlemania this year, veteran WWE legend Goldberg is all set to return to the ring. The development was confirmed by Maryland Championship Wrestling (MCW). MCW wrote on social media that Goldberg would be making an appearance at their special event – Tribute to the Legends. This development has sent wrestling fans across the world into a frenzy.
It may be recalled here that Goldberg had returned to WWE and had a brief title run when he defeated Brock Lesnar. His win over Brock Lesnar had taken everyone by surprise. He not only defeated Lesnar in a pay-per-view but also eliminated him at the Royal Rumble. Earlier, Goldberg had also beaten Brock Lesnar at Survivor Series last year in a match which lasted less than one minute and thirty seconds.
Commenting on the match, Goldberg in an interview with ESPN.com had said, “”I think at this time in my career, the best way to take [Lesnar] down was shock and awe, to do something that nobody would expect against a monster like that,” Goldberg said. “At the end of the day, you have smart marks all over the world thinking that they know the outcome of a match. I don’t believe any of them thought that was going to be it.”
Meanwhile, MCW Pro Wrestling which was originally known as Maryland Championship Wrestling is a regional independent wrestling promotion based in Maryland.

WWE Wants CM Punk Return

WWE Wants CM Punk Return
CM Punk

WWE is keen on the idea of bringing CM Punk back to the company, according to the Wrestling Observer's Dave Meltzer.
The 38-year-old walked out in early 2014 amid frustrations over his injury concerns, as well as long-standing creative differences.
He would later publicly air his grievances on Colt Cabana's Art of Wrestling podcast, where he appeared to rule out a return to WWE.
But according to Meltzer, Punk has not completely burnt his bridges in the eyes of management, who would be open to the prospect of a reunion.
Speaking on a recent edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the respected wrestling journalist said: "No matter what is said, WWE wants CM Punk back."
Few will be surprised to learn that Vince McMahon would be happy to roll out the red carpet for Punk, having previously done so for the likes of Ultimate Warrior, Bret Hart, Kurt Angle and Goldberg - who also departed in acrimony.
But Punk himself has so far shown little indication he would be prepared to reverse his retirement. The Straight Edge Superstar is reportedly still pursuing a career in the octagon, having fought his first match - a defeat to Micky Gall - back in September.
Until he formally puts the latest rumours to bed, though, speculation around his future is likely to continue.

Triple H honours Sara Amato at the Mae Young Classic

What’s the story?

At the tapings for the Mae Young Classic, Triple H paid tribute to WWE trainer and producer Sara Amato for her influence on the current generation of female Superstars.

In case you didn't know...

After almost a decade on the independent circuit, Amato became NXT’s first female trainer in September of 2012. She was instrumental in the development of the female Superstars who were marketed as the pioneers of the Women’s Revolution.

The heart of the matter

Triple H thanked Amato for her role in the progression of women’s wrestling as she was buffeted with chants of “ Thank you, Sarah”. It was an emotional affair for all the parties involved.

What’s next?

Even though most of the Mae Young Classic has already been taped, it will not be available on the WWE Network until August 28, 2017. The final hasn’t been filmed, and it will only take place on September 12, 2017.

Author’s take

The professional wrestling business is hardly a bastion of progressive values, but women like Sarah Amato help make it a better place. Her contribution to women's wrestling should never be forgotten.
